I worked with Wyman's, the largest retail brand of frozen fruit in the world, to solve a Design Challenge. Utilizing the Design Thinking Framework to create and evaluate the relevance of sustainable packaging (Shout out IDEO! If you don't know IDEA, click here, you won't be disappointed!)
I was challenged to come up with an innovative solution for frozen fruit packaging, decrease freezer burn, and use design thinking frameworks and a human-centered approach to alleviate consumer pain points. I designed and executed surveys, interviews, and focus groups to understand customer perceptions and pain points.
Created a go to market strategy as well as a financial assessment for our new innovative sustainable frozen smoothie packaging. By changing the shape, size, and packaging of a premade frozen smoothie, we avoided thawing in the transport process. Solving two of our consumers main problems, freezer burn and sustainability.
1. Defined a Design Challenge
2. Conducted primary and secondary research in the form of observations and interviews
3. Crafted insights based on field research and created artifacts (Journey maps, personas, insights, experiments, prototypes)
4. Designed and tested experiments to test initial ideas
5. Developed prototypes to test and refine ideas and assumptions
6. Worked with a real client (Wymans) on a design thinking project
Conducted both primary and secondary research in the form of observations and customer interviews.
Crafted insights based on field research and created artifacts (journey maps, personas, need statement).
Brainstormed ideas and identified the most promising idea to move forward. Used insights and data to design and prototype a new sustainable frozen packaging that would decrease freezer burn and increase customer satisfaction.
Tested prototypes and refined design ideas and assumptions.
